Family Photo Session

This past summer you may remember that I did this video for our friend Kali.  In return, she agreed to do a family photo session for us.  We've never really done one of these since Henry joined our family, so it was a pretty fun opportunity.  The day after Thanksgiving we drove down to Maple Valley and met up with Kali at an old golf course.

Here are some of the results:

Check out Kali's website. Beautiful work.

Looking Back: our latest Utah trip

A few months ago we took a trip to Utah for my friend's wedding. I blogged about it on my Sisters' blog but I wanted to document and share the other pictures.

We. Love. Utah. More accurately, we love visiting Utah. We love visiting friends, eating good food and remembering our college days. And, of course this trip was extra special because of Jenaca's wedding. Now that we have a toddler that we like to show off, our favorite form of entertainment is introducing him to our friends and meeting their own kiddos. We missed taking pictures of a few friends' kids (so bummed!), but here is Henry with:

Alfie. Jamming.
Heaton and Valentine. Forced to take pictures (how great is the reflection!?).
A wave goodbye from the entire Maddocks family (aah, so nice visiting friends!)
Ingrid. Blondies.
These two met over a year ago, so fun to see them together again!
I'm making this next photo large - this is where Ingrid and her parent live. These horses are their closest neighbors. I know, beautiful.
This represents Henry's meeting Kjell and Noelle. He ran down this restaurant hallway all evening with them, I don't know where they disappeared to in this shot, though!
Henry was reunited with the Farmer girls, which just makes me so happy inside! (oh, look, Linds - there you are. I should really take an actual picture of you on one of these trips!)

Then there was the reason we made the trip in the first place.

These love birds:
Got married here. Look one more time at the above picture of Jenaca. She was the only bride there that wasn't freezing to death in the snow that surprised us the day before. And she didn't even need a scary evil snow queen fur coat to accomplish it!
I'm realizing now that we didn't really dress Henry for the cold in his measly zip hoodie while I'm the one sporting the evil snow queen puffy coat hood (and still freezing).

There was a trip to BYU campus, of course.

And we visited with Michelle at work while Henry raised some havoc in her office.

The final picture belongs to Racheritos' rolled tacos.

Henry's B-Sides Video

So I've probably mentioned previously that Henry is really into videos of himself.  More specifically he really likes the videos that I make of our adventures together.  Well, It's been getting a little boring around here watching the same videos over and over again from our trips (more like depressing because I really want to go back to those places), so I decided to pull together some random clips from some things that we've done over the past year.

I call it Henry's B-Sides because it is like the B-sides to an album.  This is the stuff that didn't quite make it into it's own video.  One of my goals this year is to take more videos and pictures of things, so hopefully you (and Henry) will be seeing more in the coming months.

Enjoy!  Warning though, this video is pretty much just of Henry being cute, so if you're not into that you should probably just turn back now.

A Day at the Market

Toward the end of our Christmas break we met up with Monica, Jachen, and Bruce in downtown Seattle at the Pike Place Market.  We've been to the market a few times over the years, but we really haven't done anything other than look.  This time however, Bruce suggested that we all get breakfast at Lowell's.

Lowell's is a really cool little restaurant with 3 levels that overlook Elliot Bay.  The food is pretty killer, as you can tell from this photo.

Stephanie and I split the Market Breakfast which was 2 eggs, toast, hash browns and 3 amazing little sausages.

Here we are digging in.

What a beautiful little family that I have:

Although the view wasn't great on such a winter day, Henry could see a few boats that where moving through Elliot Bay.

And then there were some of the obligatory sights: The pig.

 The sign:

Rad old-school meat signs.

Daily Dozen Donuts.

After parting ways with the rest of our family, we weren't quite ready for our fun day in Seattle to end.  Henry had been cooped up in the stroller for a while so we wanted to take him to a place where he could run around a little bit.  We went to Gasworks Park.  Henry was in heaven.

He mostly threw rocks in little puddles and generally overlooked the cool pipes and other things that are what the park is known for -- whatever floats your boat.

Then there's this beauty of mine.  I may have said this before, but one of our goals this year is to not let the weather keep us from having fun experiences.  That day at Gasworks was pretty cold, but we weren't going to let that keep us down.  This woman is a good sport:

Probably my favorite picture of Steph of all time.  I can't believe that I took it.

And when you add this kid into the mix cuteness ensues.

 Scrunch face:

I like this portrait of me taken by Steph.

This is the moment when Henry saw a sea plane landing in Lake Union.  Utterly transfixed.

Well that's it.   Thanks family for our fun day!

Our Little Christmas 2012

One thing that I want to make sure to do this year is make more videos.  Henry absolutely loves them and he often throws a tantrum if he can't watch them (I'm actually a little fearful that I am distilling a sense of narcissism in him).  So anyway, here is a video of the great Christmas that we had this year.  Here's to hoping there will be more documenting of events throughout the year.

This years Christmas was special for a few reasons.  One reason was that we had Stephanie's sister Monica and her husband Jachen visiting from Switzerland for the holidays.  Henry has loved seeing "Chi-chi" and "Ca-ca" and has been able to play a lot with them.  Another reason that the holiday was special is that we were able to announce Stephanie's pregnancy with our 2nd baby due in July.  The surprise to our mothers is documented in the video.

We hope that everyone had a great holiday and we are excited to see what 2013 brings.
